My practice specializes in supporting adults and couples in midlife and beyond through the ebb and flow of everyday life. We are a unique subset of adults who have already faced many challenges in our lives- marriage, divorce, child rearing, career achievement, relocation, loss of parents or support systems- and we are at a crossroad to make some adjustments and changes that will enhance our future.
No man/woman is an island. As I work with individuals in my practice, I collaterally work with all the players in their lives whether they are in the room physically or spiritually. This has led me to expand my niche to include couples work. Helping couples find or re-establish a fulfilling emotional bond is very rewarding. And at times I assist in the discernment process around issues of un-coupling and co-parenting when the relationship is no longer working.
I have worked in the field of psychotherapy- community mental health, residential treatment, hospital mental health triage, parent education, school counseling and private practice- for over 25 years.
I am an intuitive and interested listener. I encourage self reflection, dreamwork, and journaling with my clients. However, come as you are. You will be the most important person in the therapy. I will honor your story and will do my best to walk along side you towards a life that makes sense for you and gives you peace of mind.
I enjoy hiking, camping, gardening and being in the great outdoors. I find nature to be most healing and calming. I am an avid writer and have written in my own personal journals since I was 14 years old. I’ve been a blogger for over 10 years- www.onehipdiva.com- and invite you to visit my blog page on this website for your encouragement and enjoyment as we get to know one another and build community and trust.
I see myself as approachable and easy to work with. Being 65 years old has its’ perks. I’ve been around the block a few time. I’ve personally experienced raising three sons, being married and divorced and losing my parents and one of my five siblings. I am currently in a long term relationship, and I know the ebb and flow of every day life with a partner and the need for personal and psychic space in one’s life. The balance is delicate.
